RC Helicopters: Gas powered vs Electric powered and more
Do you think you’re ready to fly into the world of RC Helicopters? I have dedicated this blog to helping you learn everything you can about RC Helicopters before taking the next step and starting this wonderful hobby. Surprisingly, there are quite a few things to learn before you should go out and purchase an RC Helicopter.

First off, the biggest decision you will need to make is whether to purchase an electric RC helicopter or a gas powered one. Here is a pros/cons list regarding the 2 different types of helicopters:
Gas Powered
Pros:
- Powerful
- Sounds cool
- Typically cheap
- Easily upgrade or modify
Cons:
- Too many parts for beginners
- Requires gas
Electric Powered
Pros:
- Quieter than gas powered (could also be a con, depending on the person)
- Cheapest of the two
- Ready to go out of the box
- Easy to maintain
- Batteries can recharge
Cons:
- Not typically designed for easy modifications
- Not very powerful
- Battery won’t last as long as gas
The next thing you’ll need to decide is whether you want to purchase a beginners kit or a more expensive model. RC Helicopters can get quite pricey in the high end range, which is why I recommend sticking to a beginner’s helicopter until you decide for yourself if you are going to get enough use out of it. But, if you are already a hobbyist of remote control cars, airplanes, or boats, then you might as well start yourself off with a mid range model.
